Omaha Queens FC: Announcing the Launch of Omaha’s First Professional Women’s Indoor Soccer Team
The Omaha soccer community is about to witness a historic moment with the arrival of Omaha Queens FC, the city’s first-ever professional indoor soccer team for women. Serving as the female counterpart to the well-established Omaha Kings FC, the Queens are a bold and exciting step forward in the landscape of local sports. This launch signals not only a commitment to fostering women's professional sports in Omaha but also a new chapter for the city’s soccer fans.
The Queens are part of the newly established MASLW (Major Arena Soccer League Women), competing in the Heartland Conference alongside the Wichita Lady Luck, Wichita Aero, ICT Aztecs, Tulsa FC, and the Oklahoma Oblivion. With the fast-paced indoor format and a formidable set of opponents, the Queens are eager to represent their city and make their mark in one of the league’s exciting divisions.
The ownership and staff at the Omaha Kings is ecstatic about this milestone, recognizing the growing need and demand for professional women's sports. Omaha Queens FC is dedicated to offering an inspiring platform for female athletes to compete at the highest level while making history as the city’s first professional indoor women’s soccer team. The Queens aim to inspire the next generation of female athletes while continuing to grow Omaha’s already passionate soccer culture.
"The Queens are more than just a soccer team—they represent a movement," said an Natalie Viel, CMO & Co-Founder of the Omaha Kings and Queens FC. "Women's professional sports are critical in creating equal opportunities for female athletes to showcase their talent. We’re thrilled to be a part of this journey and are committed to building something that will empower and elevate women's sports in Omaha."
The Omaha Kings current head coach and the club's founder, Emmanuel Viel, is set to coach the Queens this year in addition to the Kings. “I’m incredibly honored and looking forward to coaching the Omaha Queens FC this year," said Emmanuel. "My experience with the Kings, leading them to back-to-back championship game appearances, as well as hosting the MLIS's final four last year at Baxter Arena, has shown me the resilience and determination needed to compete at the highest level. I’m excited to bring that same passion and drive to the Queens. We’re here to make history, and I can’t wait to see the talent and heart these women will bring to the field.”
